Choosing a CMS or blog platform is an important process. At the time of this writing, we are only focusing on Blogger, WordPress, Drupal and TextPattern. Which package you choose depends on a number of factors:

  • Technical knowledge. If you have very little technical knowledge and have no techie on staff, you want to stay away from Drupal. It’s a powerful package, especially for online community building, but there’s a steep learning curve.     A CMS (Content Management System) is a package of software that allows webmasters, writers/ bloggers, and project managers write and manage web pages. Weblogs (blogs, online diaries, journals) use a toned-down form of CMS, which is typically referred to as a blogging platform. This site focuses mostly on the latter (OpenSource and free at present). But if the demand is there, we may present tutorials on some higher-end free CMSes.
